Hi I’m Ben!
I’m a trainer, a climber, a lover of spicy food, and a dad. (Not in that order.)
I moved to Asheville NC because the climbing scene was lit, and I started Mountain Movement because working as a personal trainer in box gyms is frustrating. They never have any of the good equipment, and I wanted a space to train my clients that was actually stocked and ready for intelligently designed, progressive, and effective training. That’s why Mountain Movement offers cutting edge equipment and methodologies!
I love to work with people who are passionate about movement.
Whether that’s climbers, hikers, runners, bikers, or other athletes looking to up their game, or folks who just want to optimize their workouts, improve their lives through movement, or escape chronic pain and injury, I believe everyone can (and should?) use the principles of goal-specific training.
If you work with me, you’ll be treated (and respected) like an athlete. Even if your goal is just to improve your posture, or have an easier time carrying your groceries, you’ll learn how to:
Listen to, understand, and work with the signals and feedback your body sends you, both during workouts, and during the rest of your life.
Create more opportunities in your movement/sport for optimization.
Own your movements, inhabit your body more fully, and get comfortable taking up space.
Connect to your body as a whole system rather than a series of body parts.
When I’m not training, working out, or climbing, you can find me playing D&D, listening to books on Audible, spending time with my wife and two kids, or training our new puppy Ivy.
By meeting an athlete where they are at, I will set a lasting foundation that will translate directly to greater ability in their respective sport.
